Objects, Love and Patterns (CIAP expo)

In his incessant fascination and love for our surroundings, Martin Belou (°1986) searches for recognisable objects and phenomena that can be found in nature. The common thread in Belou's collection is formed by the sculptural possibilities of time and space. Natural processes such as smoke formation or decomposition leave permanent traces are integrated as part of Belou's palette, with which he slowly but surely paints a new atmosphere.

The CIAP exhibition Objects, Love and Patterns acts as a laboratory where Belou presents guests with an assemblage of materials such as stones, steam and gas - carefully presented on a large metal table that spans the different rooms. The artist collects and manipulates, but also lets the phenomena and objects play their own game like an improvisation by nature. At the intersection between sculpture and performance, Belou creates a synaesthetic overall experience.

Martin Belou lives and works in Brussels and Marseille. His solo work has been shown at De La Charge and Levy-Delval (Brussels), Space Collection (Liège), Catherine Bastide (Marseille), and Kunsthalle Gent, among others. He also participated in group exhibitions at Villa Arson (Nice), Palais de Tokyo (Paris) and Futura (Prague), among others.
