Infrastructure

Below you’ll find all possibilities for production and presentation at Jester.

Jester’s main building houses several professionally equipped workshops and multifunctional studios. These facilities are used by artists in residence or those preparing an exhibition at Jester. View the inventory of our infrastructure here.

Wood Workshop

The wood workshop is equipped with tools for all kinds of processing: sawing, sanding, milling, planing, mortising, and more. It also contains a wide range of smaller power tools — including cordless drills, hand saws, sanders, a Domino and Lamello joiner — as well as an extensive selection of hand tools.

Metal Workshop

The metal workshop is equipped with machines for working with various types of metal, including TIG welding, MIG welding, oxy-fuel welding, sawing, sanding, grinding, cutting, and bending. The space can be used for a variety of purposes.

Ceramics workshop

The ceramics studio is equipped with two kilns (internal dimensions: 60×60×80 cm and 38×38×45 cm), reaching maximum temperatures of 1320 °C and 1080 °C respectively.
Both kilns are fully programmable and suitable for bisque firing, glazing, and porcelain work.

In addition to the kiln facilities, the ceramics studio includes a sandblasting cabinet and a glass-fusing kiln for sheet and cast glass. All necessary tools for working with clay and porcelain are also available.

Digital studio

The digital studio is equipped with an Apple Mac featuring a range of software for digital image editing. We also provide equipment for audiovisual production and presentation, including screens, projectors, and older media devices such as DVD players and slide projectors. Analogue materials — including slides and photographic film — can be digitised on site. A portable 3D scanner is available for quickly capturing and processing objects in digital form.

Multifunctional studios

The main building houses three bright studios, each with its own character and scale. They offer space for research, experimentation, and reflection — a place where artists can let their practice evolve during their residency.

Kunsthal

The Kunsthal forms the heart of Jester’s exhibition building. With a spacious hall for exhibitions and performances, and a smaller projection room for lectures and screenings, it provides a setting for a wide range of artistic encounters.

Space rental

Our spaces are also available for external use when not in use by residents. Interested in renting a workshop or studio for short-term use? Get in touch via infrastructuur@jester.be, we’ll be happy to discuss the possibilities with you.
