Junghun Kim

During the spring, Junghun Kim will be residing in Jester to prepare his upcoming duo exhibition with Ada Van Hoorebeke. Both artists enter into dialogue with each other and with the scars of the post-industrial landscape. Their exhibition opens, along with the summer on the solstice, June 21.
Junghun Kim (South Korea- based in NL and KR) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the profound impact of economic and technological progress on humanitarian concerns and the intricate, interconnected ecosystems of the Earth within an ever-accelerating techno-capitalist world. His practice operates as an activation system—where poetic, spiritual, and speculative gestures expose the hidden dimensions of causalities often overlooked by anthropocentric perspectives and challenge its rapidly mutating viewpoints by suggesting modes of coexistence.
Rooted in an interrelational and holistic approach, Kim interweaves cosmological, ecological, archaeological, mycological, evolutionary biological and technological perspectives with planetary circulation theory, Wuxing (Five Elements), yin and yang, Buddhist philosophy, and non-human perspective. Through this constellation of interconnected inquiries, he creates immersive, sensory environments grounded in participation and experiential engagement—nurturing interbeing as a space of shared vulnerability, resilience, and a regenerative vision. His works unfold as collaborative situations, inviting audiences to navigate entangled realities through embodied, perceptual, and co-creative acts—offering conscious, meditative and dynamic ways to perceive reality beyond the anthropomorphic lens.
