Nahal Aryan
Nahal Aryan is an Iranian artist based in Hasselt, Belgium. She studied at PXL-MAD
School of Arts, where she developed her interdisciplinary approach to image and
material. In her practice, she merges painting and textiles to create hybrid creatures
that exist between memory, identity, and transformation. Working with oil, acrylic, and
collage, she builds visual narratives rooted in social and political contexts, including
themes such as migration, gender, and the lived experience of navigating restrictive
socio-political systems in Iran.
In her recent project, Nowhere, Nahal explores the psychological and emotional
dimensions of migration, a state of suspension between earth and sky, where one
loses a sense of belonging and identity. Through these works, she portrays the
human struggle to reconstruct the self amid displacement and loss. The project is
deeply inspired by her own personal experiences as an immigrant, turning her art
into a visual autobiography of adaptation and resilience.
Nahal Aryan has participated in numerous exhibitions in Iran and Belgium.
