The Cockroach of Siligorium
The Cockroach of Siligorium

Silke Gerinckx (Roeselare, 1997) is a young maker, performer and actor. Her absurdely comic, theatrical performances are built around voice, movement and her own body. Often these creations are rooted in very personal strange fascinations made universal. By finding and exposing surprising connections, Silke inspires and triggers her audience. Using alienating and abstract sounds, an out there visual style and a guilty pleasure preference for dadaism she creates her very own unique universes.

During her residency at Jester Silke is developing a new performance inspired by the axolotl - a rare animal that symbolizes the adaptive power of nature. The Cockroach of Siligorium brings the audience into the personal universe of the artist, where a complicated, unruly and funny story unfolds about the body, sexuality and transformation.

Silke Gerinckx obtained her Master Performance at KASK Gent. She made several performances providing concept, direction, production, choreography and/or acting: Spot the dancer (2021), FANTASMAGORIE (2021 voor 'De Carrousel' Antwerpen), and DAS FANTASMAGORIUMKABINET (2023, Master project). She has also appeared as an actor-performer in short films, theater and street theater.
