Publication launch and sound performance

Finissage Fugue

On the 11th of May, Jester will celebrate the last day of Fugue, in the presence of artists Aaron Amar Bhamra (b1992, AT) and Céline Mathieu (b1989, BE). At the finissage, we will present the publication-which was edited by Italian Mousse Publishing-with textual contributions by Eloise Sweetman and Johanna Schindler, followed by a musical composition by Charlie Usher. The latter will be performed at four o'clock by the sound artist himself in a performance with field recordings that formed the basis for his fugue composition. The exhibition itself can be visited for a few more days, always from Wednesday to Sunday, from 1 to 6.

Performance: 11.05, 16h

Charlie Usher:

Charlie Usher (1987 BE/UK) is a composer living in Brussels, working with heart-on-sleeve cultural samples, rotary and handmade speaker installations, live instruments, detailed editing protocols and horizontal time structures.

Often realised by installations of live performers and/or loudspeakers in acoustics not conventionally considered adapted to hosting sound, his work uses structural and formal protocols to interrogate cognitive and affective ways we relate to information we hear.

His solo and collaborative work has been shown, installed and performed over Europe and North America, including Q-O2, KANAL-Centre Pompidou, Kaaistudio's, Beursschouwburg, Brussels; De Singel, STUK, La Becque CH, Berliner Festspiele Berlin, Dom Mladih Split HR; e-flux screening room NYC, Lincoln Center NYC, South Bank Centre, London, and during multiple US and UK tours. His recent album
Learning (in collaboration with Slow Reading Club) was released on the Ediçoes CN label this year.
