PORTRAIT OF JESTER (AT A YOUNG AGE) door Apparatus 22

Installed on the façade of Jester’s kunsthal, the new LED-neon work is part of Apparatus 22’s long-term series of telegram-like portraits. Rather than depicting appearance, these works capture something less visible: the inner life, collective ethos and shared aspirations of a person, community or institution.

Following a residency at Jester, Apparatus 22 created a portrait of the organisation itself. The work reflects Jester as a young, fierce and caring art organisation that supports brave artistic practices, opens space for untested possibilities and continues to search, research and transform.

Portrait of Jester (at a young age) is inaugurated during Jester’s summer opening, alongside Joy Ride by Alessandro Cugola, open studios by our current residents and new semi-public works in the garden.
