Open studios, presentation and public program
Jester presents Jester Days, a week-long celebration of the many voices that have shaped our spaces over the past residency cycle. This annual showcase brings together the artists who participated in Jester’s residency programme, offering insight into their trajectories, the experiments they pursued, and the work that took form along the way. In our Kunsthal, works developed or produced during the artists’ time at Jester are on view, accompanied by a public programme and open studios with attendance of the current residents, as part of Atelier in Beeld. During these seven days, Jester offers an opportunity to encounter the richness of diverse practices, to peek behind the scenes, and to connect with the artists who temporarily call Jester their home.
Jester’s residency programme supports emerging and international visual artists, offering space, time, and context to expand their practices and experiment with new media. Just as Genk was once known as a station d’artistes—a place of exchange for painters, scientists, and writers at the turn of the 20th century—Jester continues this legacy by welcoming a new generation of artists to explore the post-industrial landscape and the stories it holds.
This year’s edition of Jester Days features work by Apparatus 22, Arpita Akhanda, Agnese Cornelio & Massimo Carozzi, Slow Reading Club, Toon Fibbe, Dominik Gajarsky, Silke Gerinckx, and Jorn Plucieniczak.
